Other Info:
The track was opened in Oct 1987 by Linford Christie & Tessa Sanderson. It was originally laid by the now defunct Recreational Services Ltd. and had a Polyflex 950-4 porous synthetic surface. Some damaged sections were completely repaired in 1998. In 2000 a high fence was erected parallel to the home straight and the uncovered seating moved from the home straight to the first bend. In 2002 the fence was extended around the whole track. There is a well equipped gym and massage room next to the track. In 2003, height adjustable steeplechase barriers and a new throws cage at the water jump end were installed. The track was resurfaced in 2004 at a cost of £147K and reopened with an open meeting on 2nd June. Groundworks on a new pavilion in place of the portakabin one near the 100m start will start in December 2005. Target for completion is July 2006.
