Other Info:
The track surrounds the football pitch of Harlow Town FC and is in a poor state of repair and has not staged a meeting since about 1995. Many of the field-event facilities are unusable. The PV runway inside the top bend is partially overgrown and clearly disused as is the 2 lane double-ended LJ/TJ runway alongside it. A stand for standing spectators has been built alongside the back straight over the middle of the other PV runway. The Sportcentre is intending to develop their present site and to sell off the land that the track is on for additional car parking and housing. This means that the track is likely to be lost by about 2002. One of the goals of the Harlow Athletics and Running Initiative (HARI) and the new alliance between Harlow AC and Harlow RC is to campaign for an improved track in Harlow. As of October 2001, the schools in Harlow have combined to put forward a sports college bid. If this succeeds then the chances are it will be Mark Hall School which will be the site of a new 8 lanes all round track. Discussions are ongoing between Harlow AC, Harlow RC, UK Athletics, SEAA, the school & council.
