Other Info:
The track is on the playing fields of Tormead School although is a shared facility with Guildford County School. The redevelopment followed the successful 2022 appeal of planning application 20/P/00825, which had originally been refused by Guildford Borough Council in 2021. It opened in late 2025 and has a green synthetic surface with an all-weather hockey pitch in the infield. There are 2 LJ/TJ runways inside the top bend and an external SP fan and DT cage. See for some pictures of the track and hire details. Before redevelopment, the area now occupied by the track was mainly a grass football pitch used by Merrow FC. In summer, a grass running track was often marked out. Because the area sits (and still does) in a shallow hollow, the markings gave the impression of a semi-permanent track even though it was seasonal. At the western end, prior to the redevelopment, there were the remains of a pole vault and LJ/TJ runways and, at the other end, a grassed over HJ area and also SP fan. From aerial photos, they appeared to have been grassed over sometime between 2007 and 2012. Also, the clubhouse had an unusual elevated extension which may have been a timer's hut and elsewhere on the site was the frame of a throwing cage.
