Other Info:
This track is actually the Greenfield Track (sic) which was supposed to be synthetic but never came into being. Apparently in about 1990 after laying a concete base, the track was laid with an unsatisfactory 3mm thick synthetic surface. It was then decided that it would be unsafe as it was built over mine workings and so, although the site had been surrounded by houses for about 25 years, the project was halted. It was swiftly vandalised as it was only surrounded by a five foot railing and was never used for serious athletics. It is however still there today and the surface is reported to be covered in mud, slime and rubbish. There are no field-event facilities other than a HJ jump fan and the home straight is wider than the back.
