Other Info:
The stadium was believed to have opened in about 1871 and until the early 1900s various professional meetings were held here from sprints to middle distance. It was also used for athletics meetings in the 1950/60s and for the New Year Powderhall Sprint until the 1980s. There was a small stadium hence the name. Various other sports have taken place here including football, rugby and more recently greyhound racing and speedway. The ground was sold in 1995 and was demolished shortly after for housing. A more detailed history is available here. The "Bible" about Powderhall is a book called "Powderhall & Pedestrianism" by David A. Jamieson (W. & A.K. Johnston Ltd., Edinburgh & London, 1943).
