Other Info:
This cinder track was owned by the London Midland Region (LMR) of British Railways and is listed in the 1962 AW list of tracks. It subsequently became a speedway track but when the speedway team folded in 1975, it became a stock car racing track. However commercial pressures became too much and in the early 1990s it was all bulldozed to make way for a retail complex. There was an entrance to the track from both William Street and Rainbox Street. The depiction of the Stock Car Racing Track on an OS map suggests the running track may have been shorter than 440 yards.
