Other Info:
This ground is used by Consett FC. It is rectangular and there is a narrow path around it does not appear to be a proper track now. However in September 1953 Anne Oliver (married name Chapman) "running on a rough black shale track at Consett" completed the mile in 5mins 8 secs (1.8 secs quicker than the then world record). Her time could not be entered as a WR because only one timekeeper was present. It is thought that this performance was set at the Belle Vue Track.
