Other Info:
The track opened on 24th May 1992 and was built on the site of the old Devon County Showground. It originally had a Spurtan BS synthetic surface. The reception to the track is in the grandstand building which also includes a gym. The Exeter Harriers clubhouse which is separate to the grandstand building was built in 1993. The track is designated the South West's regional athletics stadium and is a most impressive facility with very helpful and friendly staff. One interesting extra feature is a 4 lane 60m straight to the outside of the first bend with pits off the end of the two outer lanes. The infield is a football pitch and used by junior sides although throwing is permitted in the winter. The English Schools were staged here in 1998 and 2001. The track was resurfaced in autumn 2001 by Fox Sports Surfaces with Conica Conipur 322 and the lines remarked by Athletics Markings Ltd. There are plans to build a 82m indoor straight here.
