Other Info:
Work commenced on building this brand new complex on 22nd May 2000 and it will comprise of an 8 lane synthetic track, other synthetic and grass sports pitches and a centre building comprising changing and meeting rooms shaped in the form of two overlapping semi-circles to represent the two divides of the community coming together to interact as one. It was due to open in September 2001 but apparently has been delayed as the final part of the funding has yet to be secured. It is believed that, as of January 2002, only the basic grounds work has been completed. The project is the brainchild of Youth Sport Omagh which formed as a voluntary group in February 1994 with the aim of providing a neutral venue, with suitable facilities, to support the coaching and sports education requirements of all young people. Further details can be found on the Youth Sport Omagh website at www.ysomagh.com. The entry for existing cinder track in Omagh can be found here.
