Other Info:
The track here was filled in some while ago and was inside a cycle velodrome which still exists and is 600m in length. The cycle track was used for the 1958 Commonwealth Games. The running track was the venue of many Welsh Champs and is believed to have been built in the late 1940s/early 1950s. After the games the track was resurfaced with the cinders from the track at Cardiff Arms Park which was only used for the Games. Athletics events were held at Maindy until at least the late 1970s. The running track was originally 440y but is not known whether it was ever upgraded to 400m.
